What a Weak Week!

Half a week, actually. Let's start with last Wednesday. Nathan picked Avery up from school, while I was at the gym, and I got home after she was already asleep. My brother came over (he was going to be her "manny" the next day), and we stayed up until 11:30 pm talking. That's late for me. I showered, and climbed into bed, and heard Avery start crying. Since she normally sleeps through the night, we usually hear small whimpers (probably from dreaming), followed by quiet. But this time, she kept crying. Something seemed wrong. So I threw on my robe and went upstairs. It was dark, and she was standing in her crib, so I picked her up and held her close for cuddles & comfort. And yuck! "What is that all over my face???" I turned on the light to see vomit on me, Avery, and a puddle in her bed. Poor baby. Vijay changed her sheets, Nathan cleaned up the mess, and Avery and I took a bath. There, that's better. Nathan and I took turns holding her while in bed, as she struck again on my pillow case, then his side of the sheet. Seven times later, we had the bed covered in beach towels, and we all slept through the night. Avery was energetic, with no fever, and just a reduced appetite by morning. Whew! Thank God, that was over... I went to my OB appointment and got great news - this baby is VERY low risk for Down's Syndrome & Trisomy 18. Avery's risk had been about 1/200. This baby's is 1/>10,000. Dr. Norton said this is the lowest risk the test measures. Woohoo! With this news, the rest of the day was great. I had to work late, but the baby was healthy, Avery was doing well, and I was feeling great! My mother-in-law was at my house when I got home to help me with Avery over the weekend. Nathan was going on a hunting trip, and I knew I needed to work a lot, so she was my extra set of hands. Thank you!!! We all sat around talking, while me, Nathan, Vijay, and Avery shared some chips & guacamole. And then it was off to bed. At about 2:30 am, my stomach woke me up. Usually, this is because I am hungry. But this time, I was Nauseous (with a capital N). Well, the nausea turned into vomiting (& more) by 3:30 am. I was constantly running to the bathroom every 15 - 30 minutes until about noon, when I got up the courage to call the doctor's office. I wanted to ask them if I could take my anti-nausea medicine to stop the madness. Their initial response was that a stomach virus goes away by letting it out of your system, so they wanted to let it run it's course. However, when they found out that I had thrown up about 20 times, they worried a little. They needed to call my doctor, and would call me back. When they called back, they called in a strong prescription, and said that if it didn't work, I would need to go to labor & delivery to get IV fluids. Thankfully it worked. By the next morning, I was feeling great, but in the meantime, the virus had spread to Nathan, Vijay, and both of the neighbor's kids. YUCK! That was our weekend. Lovely... Today I'm back at work, gearing up for tomorrow's deadline. Not too bad, so far :) I'll post again soon - should be finding out the new baby's gender October 1st - yay!!
